How do I pick one memory of my sister Jeannie?
I'll start with the first.
When I was in my teens and I came home late one night, I went to the doorway of my Mom and Dad's room to tell them I was home. I got a great suprise.
My Dad was not there and my Mom had a young dark haired girl in bed with her... Jeannie
This was just a few days before her and my brother were married.
It was that night that -in my view- she became a part of our family.
My sweet sister-in-law Jeannie. I'm going to miss you so much. I was 12 when you came into my life and there was so much that I learned, just watching the way that you lived your life. I could talk about lots of stuff but we would be here all day. So here's just a couple of things that were important to me.
She was there the day I went into early labor. After watching me for a while, she told me "you need to get to the hospital NOW!". So I went. Boy the look on her face when I showed back up. She told me that she wasn't going to deliver my baby so get back to the hospital. I told her I would ig she'd go with me.
After arriving at the hospital the nurse looked at us and said "which one?" Jeannie was also pregnant. She told the nurse while pointing at me "her once again". I was told I had gas!!!
Well at 6:05 my precious son Christopher was born. Exactly one month to the day Jeannie gave birth to her precious baby girl, Dusty.
When I was living with my Dad, Neil, and Jeannie I learned how to cut up fruit and make jam. I watched them care for the wild meat that they brought home from hunting. Jeannie asked me if I wanted to learn how to do crabapple jelly, I told her yes I would like to learn. So she taught me how to make it, but first she sent me out to the tree to pick them. I picked every one, and there were alot of crabapple's... But we cut them up, and we had alot of jelly. We even did some sugar-free ones.
I miss you, Sweetie. I love you so much. But I know were you are and I'll see you again.
Tell everybody hi and give hugs.
Bye-Bye for now... Polly
I am writing this in honor of my amazing sister-in-law Norma Jean Fowler Young. Whom I met in the year 1972 when she married my brother Marvin Neil Young. Neil and Jeannie loved eachother very much. Neil marrying Jeannie was the best thing that Neil ever did. This was the beginning of a friendship that has lasted to this date.
After Dusty Lynn passed away, I remember sitting together on the back doorstep of her home, and watching the stars in the sky. One day we noticed a star that that was so much brighter than the rest. We named the star, the Dusty Star! To this day we can pick it out of the sky throughout all the stars. The little star became well-known with our family and friends. Jeannie grew into the perfect mother, the perfect wife, and then my perfect friend and sister.
Neil and Jeannie share four children Johnny, Stacy, Jace, and Dusty Lynn. Jeannie, I am going to miss you so much. I'll miss seeing you and Neil together. My heart is breaking, I love and miss you so much but I know I will see you again.
I love you, Shawna.
